The Word

Scripture for Marriage

God's Word is the foundation of covenant love. Let these scriptures shape the way you lead, love, and pray for your spouse.

Ecclesiastes 4:12

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Reflection. Marriage thrives when God is the third strand — strength no storm can easily break.

Genesis 2:24

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Reflection. Oneness is God's design — unity of body, heart, mind, and spirit.

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

Reflection. A husband's love is sacrificial — laying down self for the well-being of his bride.

Proverbs 18:22

He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.

Reflection. A godly spouse is grace from God — to be treasured, honored, and celebrated.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful... Love never ends.

Reflection. Love is daily action — kindness, patience, humility. The fruit of a Spirit-led home.

Colossians 3:14

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Reflection. Love is the garment that holds every other virtue together in marriage.

Mark 10:9

What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.

Reflection. Covenant is holy. Guard your union with prayer, presence, and purposeful love.
